Frequently Asked Questions

What is Match Day?

A one-day only event in which anyone can make a donation to a qualifying Mecosta 501c3 non-profit organization and receive up to a 50% match to the same organization. Donations will be time-stamped and match dollars will be applied in the order they are received.

When is Match Day?

Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

How & Where do I donate?

Bring your cash, check, or credit card (Visa/MC/Discover) to the Holiday Inn, located on Perry Street, Big Rapids, to be time stamped and processed. Then, mingle with your favorite 501c3 non-profits while enjoying refreshments.

Why should I participate?

Match Day provides the opportunity to multiply support to your favorite local 501c3 non-profits by matching your donation with Foundation Funds. All donations collected on Match Day will be “passed through” the Foundation to the designated 501c3 non-profits, at no cost to you or the non-profits.

Which non-profit organizations qualify for match dollars?

A qualifying organization is any Mecosta County 501c3 non-profit or any Fund within the Mecosta County Community Foundation. Here’s a list of qualifying organizations.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation amount?

No. All donation amounts will be accepted, but there is a match limit of $1,000 per donor ($500 match cap), $2,500 per business/organization ($1250 match cap). Donors may certainly give more, but only $1,000 or $2500 per organization can be matched. Donations made from an approved organization to themselves will not qualify for a match.

Can I mail in my donation?

No. In order to qualify for match dollars, donations will be time stamped by Mecosta County Community Foundation in the order they are received. If you can’t join us in person, you can give your pre-dated check to the organization of your choice and they can deliver the check to us on Match Day.

Can I make my donation online?

No, for the same reason as explained above. You may still donate by credit card at the event.

What if I want to contribute but cannot get to the Holiday Inn on the 23th?

You can give your check to a friend or family member and ask them to bring it in on your behalf – you might even encourage them to write a check of their own! Or, if that’s not possible, you can give your check to the nonprofit you wish to support prior to the 23rd and they can turn it in for you at the event.

To whom should my check be made payable?

MCCF or Mecosta County Community Foundation. In the memo line on your check, please indicate which organization you are donating to.

Can I make a donation to more than one organization?

Yes! Please use the Qualifying Organization List to indicate which organizations you are supporting and how much you wish to donate to each organization.

When will the organizations receive the money collected on Match Day?

October 27th during the Mecosta County Community Foundation’s special board meeting.

Process your online donation through Fremont Area Community Foundation. Please specifiy that your contribution goes to the Mecosta County Community Foundation.
