2010 Annual Report

 Dr. Edward Mallett accepts a grant for $1,550 for “A/V equipment for the Tuba Bach Chamber Music Festival” from Mecosta County Community Foundation President Scott Hill-Kennedy.

 Mecosta County Community Foundation President Scott Hill-Kennedy presents Diane Long, from Project Starburst, with a grant for $1,500 to be used for “Client Gasoline Vouchers”.

 Mecosta County Senior Center director, Claudia Lenon, accepts a $4,000 grant to help build a “Pole Barn for Agency Vehicles” from Mecosta County Community Foundation member Dave Hamelund.

 Jodi Daum, representing Chippewa Hills High School, accepts $978 for two grants. The first grant is for an “iPad Connection in the Classroom” and the second for a MCYAC mini-grant for a the program “Projectile Motion”. Mecosta County Community Foundation member, Yo Bellingar delivers the check!

 On behalf of Big Rapids Public Schools, Nick Scheible accepts a grant for $2,500 for the “Pay to Participate Fee Scholarship Program” from Mecosta County Community Foundation members Tim Zehr and Debbie Patterson.

 Artworks is presented with a grant for $1,488 to help fund the lighting project ”Intimate Surroundings”. Mecosta County Community Foundation member, Debbie Patterson, presents Jeanette Fluery and Ruth Vermeer with the check.

 Robert D. Miller Scholarship recipient, Tyler Engstron from Reed City High School, accepts the $1,000 scholarship from Brenda Miller and Dave Hamelund (Mecosta County Community Foundation Board member).

At the January 26, 2011 Board Meeting, Scott Hill-Kennedy assumed the presidency of the MCCF Board, replacing outgoing president Gary Trimarco, who remains on the board. Other organizational changes include naming Tim Zehr as the 1st Vice President and Debbie Patterson as the 2nd Vice President. Kim Von Kroneneberger has stepped away from the board and will be missed.  2011 has been jump-started with these new changes and a full year of programs are underway. Stay tuned!

Debbie Szot provided pictures from the Charter School on thier first visit handing out bookmarks and pencils. 8 dog and handler teams were there with 60 children! Grant money was awarded from the MCYAC kids! “The heart and soul of two dogs helping animals and their people” is the motto of the Riley Mackenzie Fund.

Mecosta County Community Foundation Board Member, Tim Zehr, was selected as the 2010 “Citizen of the Year” by the Pioneer! Congratulations Tim…we are all so happy for you!

For our October 2010 Grant Cycle, we received applications requesting over $65,000…nearly three times the amount available. Thank you to all that applied! Pictured are a few of the grant recipients.

The Riverview Elementary PTO was awarded $5,254 for playground equipement.

The Sheriff's Posse received $3,500 to help purchase Narrow Band Radios for Mecosta County.

The Rose Lake Youth Camp will use their $1,250 grant to purchase a GaGa Pit!

The Riley MacKenzie Fund received a grant for $830 to be used for educational items for kids!

The American Red Cross was awarded $2,705 grant for "Health and Safety Education and Community Development."

Northland United Soccer Club received $2,000 towrds the River Street Field project.

2-1-1 Information and Referral and volunteer program initative received a $2,000 grant!
