Community Giving Day began as “Match Day” in 2010 to help charities who were feeling the revenue pinch during our most recent recession. The Community Foundation, thanks to the generosity of area donors, supplied a “match pool” of funds that were used to match donations to area non-profits during the one-day event. Each non-profit group was responsible for reaching out to their supporters to garner donations during the event, which turns out to be the biggest single day of fundraising in our community each year.

The Mecosta County Community Foundation’s Community Giving Day (formerly Match Day) event has raised more than $5 million in just 6 years for Mecosta County area non-profit organizations and endowments.

This year, Community Giving Day is changed a little.  Nonprofits set up their displays at the Miller Wing of the MOISD.  Donors joined us from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 2.  They showcased what the nonprofits in Mecosta County are doing and ways that community members can help.  The theme for 2017 was "Building a Stronger Community Together".

We want to thank the Mecosta County community for coming out to support nonprofits and organizations on Community Giving Day. Because of your generosity, we are able to support the needs of Mecosta County residents and build a stronger community together.

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise close to $500,000 for organizations that serve Mecosta County residents.

Our nonprofit, schools and other organizations put a lot of effort in to creating a fun environment for those who attend.  We look forward to meeting new people and learning about new organizations every year.  This year was no exception.

Mecosta County Community Foundation looks forward to supporting our organizations and helping them serve the residents in this community.

Again, thank you to all the nonprofits, donors, and community members who came out to explore Community Giving Day!
